Romans 5:3-4   Sermon #32-9214  (RW-123121)

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Thank You for joining us once again as we continue our study in Romans.
As we begin this morning we see Paul building on his previous statements of peace with God and access into the Grace of God.
Many times people get the Grace of God and the Will of God confused.
The grace of God is; Him giving us what we don't deserve. We do not deserve salvation. It is not owed or earned. It is the free gift of God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
It is not the password to anything we want. We cannot stand before God and say "I want this or that and you said you would give it to me because I understand grace means you will give me anything by faith."
WRONG! Salvation is by God’s Grace through faith.
God promises salvation by grace through faith.
Gods will is His gracious disposition toward us.
God does not owe us anything because we are saved. God wants us to have anything that He knows will be used to glorify Him. Asking for anything with a selfish or greedy intent will only prove that you either do not understand the Word or are not saved to start with.
Instead of asking for an abundance to live on and help others. Ask the Lord to help you live within your means, and joyfully share what you do have. Prove your faith that God has given you all you need and be willing to give from that.
Matthew 25:29
29 For to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
2 Corinthians 9:6-9
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
God wants us to have an abundance in this life as well as with Him in heaven.
His will is for us to have an abundance but we must learn to give first. You see if you give of yourself as He did for you, He will give more of Himself that you may do the same. Once again all for His Glory.
Now our text reads:
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also:
Tribulations to us means hard times. Not having enough, trouble that comes to us as humans, sickness, heartache, loss the list goes on and on.
Yes, we are held to the fire, we are tested and tried that our faith in God may increase. However, tribulations are not brought against us by God. They are allowed to come against us that we may grow in our faith and come closer to God.
James 1:13
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Tribulation is not a separation from God. It is one of the things that draw us closer to Him if we are truly saved. It is a strengthening and binding agent.
If life were all peaches and cream we would soon forget why and whom it was that made it that way.
3-----but we glory in tribulations also:
We not only glory in the good but much more so in the hard times, the oppression, the testing of our faith.
3----------knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Patience in the Bible means ---Steadfastness, consistency and endurance.
It has nothing to do with waiting to see how things turn out.
It has everything to do with faith.
  Romans 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

We are to patiently endure in our faith unwavering, steadfast, consistently knowing that our trials and tribulations are only for a while and are for our own good. Only a true believer can and will see and grow through--- the testing of our faith.
The working of patience brings experience.
Walking with God through all things that may come against us produces experience. Not questioning God’s purpose but thanking Him that He has a purpose and has chosen you to be the bearer of that purpose brings the assurance of one's salvation. Casting off every thought and action that would be contrary to faith is proof of one’s knowledge of hope.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Experience is having been through something and coming out the other side unscathed or having failed and learned what not to do next time.
Experience is the result of being tried and tested. It's what we learn from that experience that makes us grow in faith or what we don't learn, who or what we blame or give credit to other than God that proves where our hearts really are.
Hope is where the Christian stands.
Hope is the blessed assurance we have in Christ Jesus.
Hope is not wishful thinking. It is a sure thing for God's favorites.
It is the knowledge that not one trial or tribulation will come upon us that has not been sifted through Gods hands first.
Satan wants to destroy us. God will not allow anything that he knows we cannot or are not ready to withstand in His strength.
Let me assure you before I was saved my life was a mess.
When I got saved that mess became easier to handle until I realized I was the one allowing even the smallest messes to continue. My study time and prayer time began to increase and my life became filled with Joy. Were there still trials and tribulations?----Since I have answered the call to be a Pastor; even greater ones than I could have imagined.
I watched my wife of 15 years slowly succumb to post-polio syndrome. My only strength was in the Lord and our best friend whom has remained as loving and caring for me as she was for my wife. God will always give us what is needed, to not only get through our tribulations but to rise above them. Since the passing of my wife, I have been falsely accused of many things but they all fall away because of my faith in God our Father, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit which I have been sealed with. They not only fall away but fall back on the heads of my accusers. You see; faith will not only bring you through but right the wrongs for the faithful and obediently patient child of God. He is ever present to help me and you in all things at all times for those who believe and patiently and persistently wait for Him. That my friends, is Hope. Knowing where you stand now and forever more in Christ.
   Now our text reads:
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
Tribulation worketh patience and patience worketh experience.
The more you continue serving God throughout this life here and now the more Satan will throw at you. If your faith wavers you will begin to sink under the waves of fear and unbelief.
Once again, nothing that comes against you is a surprise to God. Satan must ask God to test you. God will only allow what he knows you can handle in His strength.
His strength in you will grow with every trial you walk through with Him until you are called into Glory with Him.
Your increased faith and patients is in experience and the end of your walk in faith is your glorification.
Remember The moment you are saved you are Justified.
Your walk and experiences in that walk is your Sanctification.
During that walk we keep our eyes on the prize. Jesus Christ our Hope.
The blessed assurance of our salvation.
Amen!
