Romans 3:1-7 (KJV) Continued: Part 3
What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?                                                                                          2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.                                                                                                                      3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?                                                                                                                   4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.                                                                                                                               5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)                                                                                 6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?                                               7 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

This is our 3rd sermon in Romans 3:1-7 and we will begin by going back to summarize what Paul has been stressing to the Roman church and to us in extension.
Remember, when you are saved, you are the church, the body of Christ. You have died to sin and risen spiritually to follow Jesus in all His glory for eternity.  Time is irrelevant to God who always was, is and will be.

When we become a member of the body of Christ we have accepted the truth of His Word, we are being sanctified by His Word and we will live through Him eternally.
• Have accepted---past
• Being sanctified--- present
• Will live--- future
• Was, is and always will be.
Nothing has ever changed in God’s plan of salvation for man.
Therefore as we read Paul’s letter to the Roman Church we can place ourselves with them, as if we were seated and listening intently. As if his letter was being read for the very first time.
Everything that applied to the first church/churches applies to us.
So all of you born again Christians, you converts from false religions, you skeptical, you unbelievers, you hypocritical modern day scribes and Pharisees; this is for you.
What advantage then hath the (Christian) Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision (of the heart)?
2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. (unto every Christian the Holy Word of God is committed)
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?   (For every true Christian, God’s promises have been, are and forever will be set in stone).
   4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;
(only the Word of God is truth, not what men try to make it to say or be).
That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.  (A Christian does not judge the Word of God by lowering His standard, accepting wrong with right or ignoring parts while responding to others. A true Christian earnestly strives to fulfill every statute and commandment for God’s Glory. Following God’s Word—Jesus Christ-- is the Goal we press onward and upward for. Therefore we will be judged not His perfect standard).
5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? (can a true Christian knowingly sin and then claim God to be so righteous He will over look it?)
Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance?  --(Is it wrong for God to hold us to His standard)?
(I speak as a man) This is not a true Christian’s view of our just and Holy God. Men judge God, not true Christians.

This brings us to the last two verses in Romans 3:1-7
6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
7 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

6 God forbid: Let God speak it into existence forever.
            Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
for then how shall God judge the world?
Who is more qualified to judge right from wrong then the creator of all things, the giver of all things, and the sustainer of all things?
Who is more qualified to give the law, define the law and apply the law?
Who loved us so much that He gave Himself in our stead to satisfy the penalty of breaking His own law?
Who then is the rightful judge over everything we say think and do.
It is God’s place to be judge and His place alone. At no time has God ever asked our opinion or asked for a vote or changed His mind about anything.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
We have only to look at the book of Job to see God’s answer to those who believe they can make up their own rules and live the way they choose and still believe they are righteous in the sight of God.

Think for one moment: If you truly believe God is the creator of things including life itself then why would you believe you are qualified to set the standard for faith and obedience?

Job 40:6------
 6 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:                                                                                                        7 “Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me:
8 “Would you indeed annul My judgment?
Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?
9 Have you an arm like God?
Or can you thunder with a voice like His?
10 Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor,
And array yourself with glory and beauty.
11 Disperse the rage of your wrath;
Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him.
12 Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low;
Tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Hide them in the dust together,
Bind their faces in hidden darkness.
14 Then I will also confess to you
That your own right hand can save you.
God is quite simply stating to Job and all mankind by His eternal Word. “If you can do everything I have done and more then I will confess you can save yourself.
If you cannot, then I am the just judge of you and all mankind!”

It would do us good to reread Job 40-42 in our private studies.

7 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

If I knowingly do wrong and say “I can’t help it but God will over look it” I lie against God.
If I knowingly misinterpret the Word of God to you (as I knowingly was ordained by God to speak the truth of His Word to you), I lie against God.
If my intentions would be anything less than the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by my faith and obedience, I lie against God.
Would someone explain to me how the truth could be glorified by a lie?
       Proverbs 12:22
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
It is frightening to think about all the different denominations and doctrines that claim to be the only truth and if you don’t believe their way you will surely die or you are at best a lesser Christian for not doing so.

Can we really trust the words of men over the Word of God!

Once again I will return to our supporting Scripture from Sermon #14.
Joshua 1:8  This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Six times in verse 8 God told Joshua You and Your.
He told Joshua to personally know His Word and to personally study and meditate IN it day and night.
1.Notice also that His command to Joshua was to know Him personally and
2.The Outcome would be Actions that would Glorify God by following His Word. (Not Joshua’s interpretation thereof.)
3.And then in doing so, Joshua would be blessed by walking in prosperity and good success.
Our Goal at Cornerstone Independent Church Ministry is to encourage You to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit that is given to everyone at the moment of salvation.
Our sermons are just a stepping stone for your personal studies.
Brothers and sisters open your Bibles and begin to draw nigh unto God. He doesn’t call us corporately; He calls each one of us personally and that is how He wants us to answer.
If I tell you anything else, then I lie against God and I would be judged as a sinner!

Let’s Pray,
Our most gracious Heavenly Father, as we continue our study in Romans help us Father to understand the need for the one on one relationship we need with You.
Make us to understand all of the components of Your Word.
Open the Scriptures to us that we may see how much You love us, what You have commanded that we should do, what the result will be for Your Glory and the promises that come with our faith and obedience. Far too many are preaching health and prosperity through prayer but leave out the drawing nigh and knowing You through Faithful Study and Obedient change in our lives that will only Glorify You.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Thank You Father for the light You shine by the truth of Your Word.
In the Name of Jesus we Pray ----AMEN!

Thank You and may God bless your studies in His Word this week.
